How do I register for your camp?

To register for our camps, download the registration form and enter the information. The form can be electronically filled using Microsoft Word. You can email, mail, fax, or deliver the filled form to ensure your child’s spot. Payment is by cheque or cash. We also accept Interac e-Transfers. Please refer to the registration form for details.

Interac e-Transfers must be addressed to finance@acadecap.org. A separate email must be sent indicating the password.

 

Is there a registration deadline?

We encourage parents to register by June 1, however, we accept campers throughout the summer, space permitting.

 

What are the camp hours?

Camp runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Pre and Post camp care allows drop-off at 8:00 a.m. and pick-up until 5:30 p.m. The fee is $30 for 5-day weeks and $24 for 4-day weeks.

Between the hours of 9:30 am and 3:30 pm, access to the school is by buzzer only. As well, the door will automatically lock at 5:30 pm. There is a late pick-up fee of $20.

 

What happens during camp?

Below is a general daily schedule for AcadeCamp. Periods may be subject to change:

8:00 – 9:00 Camper’s Arrival
9:00 – 9: 30 Introduction and Ice Breaker / Previous day recap
9:30 – 10:30 Guided Activity (Experiment, Art, Brainstorm related to theme)

Jiu-Jitsu on Monday or Wednesday

10:30 – 11:00 Snack Time and Outdoor Play (weather permitting)
11:00 – 12:15 Exploration Time (Experiment, Art, Brainstorm related to theme)
12:15 – 13:00* Lunch and Outdoor Play (weather permitting)
13:00 – 13:45 Quiet Time (quiet games, puzzles, reading/story time)
13:45 – 15:15 Activity related to camp theme
15:15 – 16:00 Snack Time followed by project/activity end of day wrap-up
16:00 – 17:30 Children pick-up time

*Weather permitting, campers will go to the splash pad at Morrison Park on Fridays for guided outdoor activities/games during the lunch period and return to Académie de la Capitale for afternoon snack at 15:15.

 

Is your camp in French only?

AcadeCamp is a bilingual camp. Students are encouraged to use French as much as possible, and new vocabulary is repeated in English to familiarize them with the words that they might not know. All students are at different levels of French language acquisition.

 

What is your instructor to camper ratio?

Our instructor to camper ratio for AcadeCamp is 1 to 8 with the help of a volunteer student.

 

Are your instructors trained in First Aid?

We require all of our instructors to be trained in Emergency First Aid and CPR.

 

What does my child need to bring?

Your child must have the  following (labelled with name)

  • Appropriate summer attire
  • Indoor & outdoor shoes
  • Water bottle
  • Hat
  • Bottle of sunscreen
  • Snacks (peanut/nut-free)
  • If they are not signed up for the lunch program*, they will need to bring their own lunches (peanut/nut-free)
  • *Lunch program participants would need to bring their own lunch containers and cutlery
  • Have a spare change of clothes in their bag

For Friday splash pad days, your child must bring all the above plus the following (labelled with name) :

  • Bathing suit
  • Towel
  • Pair of shoes that can get wet
  • It is highly recommend that the campers have sunscreen applied on before coming to camp on these mornings, along with bathing suit under clothes.

 

What percentage of the camp time is spent indoors and outdoors?

Children go outside daily, during morning and lunch recess, when weather permits. They also have 45 minutes of Jiu-Jitsu per week. Please refer to the sample schedule at the bottom of the page.

 

What is the lunch program?

The lunch program includes 2 slices of pizza every Monday and hot lunches (healthy main course including a vegetable side dish, fruits, and dessert) from Tuesday to Friday catered by Dial-a-Chef. Children registered in the lunch program will need to bring their own containers and cutlery. If you are signing up for the lunch program, please indicate any food allergies/dietary restrictions. Our chef can accommodate most dietary restrictions; however, you will be notified in the event that alternative arrangements would need to be made.

 

Can I order pizza everyday?

No. Pizza is only served on Mondays.

 

What if my child has severe allergies or a medical condition?

Please provide us with a copy of your child’s current school’s allergy or asthma action plan, with a current photo. Your your child requires an Epi-pen, you child will be required to have his or her Epi-pen with them at all times.

To volunteer or work for AcadeCoders, please submit a resume and a cover letter to camps@acadecap.org. Please specify if you are applying to volunteer or to work.
