This week we got to demonstrate what being a hero is for the grade 1 and 2 class. Students spent several periods creating and perfecting 2 skits, which were presented on the stage for the grade 1 and 2 students. Miriam asked questions to the younger students to gauge their comprehension. Grade 3 and 4 students did a great job! The grade 1 and 2 students really seemed to enjoy the skits.

We had a good discussion about the tornado and who the real heroes were during this horrible event. Students identified the people in our community who acted as heroes to help those in need.

We also completed the Terry Fox run yesterday. After reading about Terry Fox in class, students had a better appreciation for why they were running. They ran with purpose!

The summative task for the unit has been introduced: a letter to their hero. Students have completed step 1 (brainstorming) and are currently working on step 2: rough draft.
