After School Clubs
Our after school clubs in Ottawa reflect the same balance that shapes our school day: thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
Students can spend time after school playing and learning chess, building a campaign in Dungeons & Dragons, learning sewing skills, honing fine arts or media art skills, or experimenting with code and logic puzzles. For those more interested in physical activity, our after school sports club blends running with various exercises to develop all-around fitness and help build towards participation in community events.
As part of our after school clubs in Ottawa, these programmes are run in small groups and led by teachers, specialists, and members of our parent community who bring valuable experience and expertise.
In addition to after school programming, students can also take part in noon hour clubs and activities. Guided by teachers and specialists, these clubs include opportunities to explore the natural environment with our Natural History Club, participate in outdoor sports and activities, learn Arabic, or engage in collaborative initiatives such as AcadeMUN. These mid-day options give students space to pursue interests, stay active, and connect with peers within the rhythm of the school day.
Chess Club & Tournaments
Through participation in Chess Club and chess tournaments, AcadeCap students build strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, develop perseverance, elevate ELO rating and learn the importance of respectful competition.
Running Club
Welcome to our Running and Workout Club, where we blend running with various exercises to enhance your fitness skills. We focus on improving endurance, strength, and coordination, all while preparing for events like the Run to Empower Race. Join us to learn, grow, and enjoy a well-rounded fitness experience.
D&D
Jump into the world of Dungeons and Dragons with an AcadeCap parent. This term, he returns as the Dungeon Master guiding students on a one of a kind adventure. Players will fight monsters, discover treasure, and explore a mystical world. Not only will they be having fun and getting creative, D&D also fosters skills, such as vocabulary building, problem solving, team work, communication and listening.
Coding
Secret Programming Club is brought to you by an AcadeCap Parent.
Secret codes have evolved over time, from the first codes carved in stone 4000 years ago, to decode in your head to modern codes that computers process using math.
Coding touches the fields of puzzles, math, computer programming and more. We can do any or all of these each day, and for those who want to go deeper into one of puzzles, math, or computer programming and leave the secret codes behind, we can try to do that too! The direction we go in the club is guided by the interests of those who sign up.

Outings and Travel
Our outings and travel are educationally based and serve as an experiential extension to the curriculum, more specifically to a unit of study. They are linked to learning expectations in various subjects with well-planned preparation and follow-up. One of the key benefits of travel is that students develop life skills that they can use in years to come, particularly when they move on to post-secondary education.
à la carte OSSD courses
During the summer, students can take advantage of Académie de la Capitale’s expertise, approach and rigour to obtain the necessary credits towards the OSSD and most importantly to acquire the in-depth concepts, knowledge and skills to keep on learning and to succeed academically at the post-secondary level. Due to our small daytime class sizes, our educators are experienced at one-on-one teaching and differentiated learning. Every student is challenged at his, her or they level, strengthens core concepts, develops core competencies, and masters course content.
