At AcadeCap International School, we believe that exceptional academics and education begins with exceptional educators. While Ontario private schools are not required to employ teachers certified by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) or individuals with teaching degrees, we take a different approach, one that exceeds the minimum requirements and embraces best practices from international schools around the world.
Our Diverse and Highly Qualified Team
The strength of our teaching team lies in its diversity and depth of experience. At our independent school in Ottawa our educators include OCT-certified teachers, internationally certified professionals, and subject-matter experts with robust academic backgrounds. Many of our faculty members hold double majors, master’s degrees, and PhDs and/or field experience, bringing a wealth of knowledge and passion to their classrooms.
But content expertise alone is not enough. That’s why we invest heavily in pedagogical training, specifically through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Professional Development framework. This ensures that our educators are not only experts in their fields but also skilled facilitators of inquiry-based, student-centered learning.

IB World School Since 2004
AcadeCap has proudly been an authorized IB World School offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) since 2004. Our commitment to the IB philosophy is reflected in our ongoing professional learning culture. Every educator at AcadeCap undergoes formal IB training, either in person or online, through over 400 certified courses offered globally.
In Summer 2025, three of our staff members completed advanced Category 3 IB training, further deepening their expertise. We’re also looking forward to more professional development sessions scheduled during the 2025–2026 academic year, including one in October 2025.
In addition to major training modules, our educators regularly pursue IB micro-credentials, ensuring they remain current with evolving international teaching practices.
A Record of Excellence: IB Evaluations and Ministry Inspection
We are proud of our consistent track record of excellence. In May 2024, we completed our latest IB Five-Year Evaluation, achieving outstanding results. These evaluations are a rigorous process that confirm our alignment with the IB’s high standards across curriculum, pedagogy, leadership, and student support.
