Ottawa Micro-School -
Empowering Agency and
Growth Mindset,
Unleashing Potential
Small Class Size
As a micro-school with small classes, our low student-to-teacher ratio allows for differentiated instruction and deeper relationships. Students are seen, heard, and known. They matter.
Learning How to Learn
Cultivating the habits and skills that fuel lifelong learning. Curiosity, reflection, and the ability to navigate complex problems ethically; these are the 21st-century competencies for studies, work, and life in an everchanging world.
Post Secondary Connection
Admittance to programmes and universities, colleges of choice with scholarships via mastery of OSSD course content. More importantly, graduates leave us with a clear sense of who they are as learners.
I will always be grateful for the amazing educational years C. SM. had with your fantastic educational team. Her dedication for higher education, her strive to always do her best, her inquisitive mind and love of learning comes from the strong foundation taught to her by you and your teachers.
D.S.

Our AcadeCap community continues to show its commitment to making a real difference. Over the past month, we have collected donations from our students, families, and staff to support Shawna’s Outreach — a local initiative that provides essential items to individuals experiencing homelessness, including socks, pre-packaged snacks, warm coats, sleeping bags, and more.
Thank you to those who donated!
- AcadeHack is almost here!
M. Kidane is excited to share this special event with our students and families. A hackathon is a fun, free coding challenge where students build creative projects.
On November 28th, the morning will include a coding scavenger hunt and unplugged activities. AcadeHack officially begins at noon as students form teams and choose their challenges. Categories include Game Design, Animation, Engineering, Electronics, and more! Workshops may include HTML/CSS, Scratch Animation, and 3D Printing.
Our K–1 learners will enjoy hands-on iSTEAM activities to build early coding skills. Grades 3–6 will work until 4:00 pm, and Grades 7–12 have the option to stay overnight.
Mentors will be on site to guide students, run mini-workshops, and keep the momentum going.
Go AcadeHackers!

- Orange Shirt Day
As part of our school-wide recognition of Truth and Reconciliation, students across all ages reflected on the history and ongoing impact of residential schools in Canada. Through guided discussions and shared learning, they explored the importance of honouring the children who were taken from their families, the resilience of Indigenous communities, and our collective responsibility to seek truth, healing, and justice.
Inspired by the teachings of butterflies, sunflowers, and hummingbirds, students created artwork representing transformation, remembrance, and resilience. These natural symbols carry both ecological importance and deep Indigenous significance, reminding us to face the past with truth and move forward with hope.

Individualized Learning
We shape our approach around each student’s exceptionality, so they can grow in ways that feel both supported and self-driven. Guided by each child’s progress, differentiated learning experiences equip our students with all the tools they need to reach their full potential.
Competency-Based Curricula
Grounded in research and guided by educational theory, our forward-looking programs help students build the skills and understanding required to confidently pursue post-secondary study and future opportunities.
Learning Community
An environment where students, parents, educators and the local community work together, support each other, and learn. Our shared commitment to growth fosters a culture where curiosity is valued, and current students feel supported throughout the school year.
Expert Educators
Our educators, each experts in their field, educate students for success now and in the future, preparing them to grow into well-rounded individuals and responsible global citizens.
Extended Learning
Through a variety of clubs, field trips, seasonal camps, and co-curriculars, learning extends well beyond the classroom—supporting balanced development and cultivating real-world competencies.
Third Teacher Environment
A blend of open collaborative spaces and smaller classrooms supports both focused learning and group engagement. Access to nature trails, a large sports field, and a generously wooded yard encourages healthy, active living.
