This past weekend, several AcadeCap students attended CAPMUN 2024, the Capital Region Model United Nations conference, now celebrating its 10th anniversary as a bilingual Model United Nations conference.

Three students participated in the Consitutional Diet of 1911: The Second Austro-Hungarian Compromise, a specialized committee where our students took on the characters of Adelheid Popp, Istvan Tisza, and Ivan Sustersic. Another student represented Malaysia at the International Labour Organization Conference, where delegates worked together to draft a resolution ‘to secure the rights of migrant workers.’

During the Panel luncheon, students learned about career paths in diplomacy and politics while meeting and chatting with Mohamed el Madhi Gaouane, Deputy Head of Mission for the Kingdom of Morocco, Olaf Kjelsen, Ambassador of Switzerland, Stephanie Plante, City Councillor for Rideau-Vanier, and Dr. Sayed Rahman, Senior Director of the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University. Their speeches and advice for the students were inspiring!

Students of the Constitutional Diet of 1911 received accolades from the Chair for their respectful committee decorum and adherence to the spirit of equity.
