ACADEMIA FRANÇAIS SUMMER 2022 (GRADES 1-8 )

At AcadeMIA students will be learning French from one of our DELF specialists this summer. AcadeCap will be offering French each week to specific age groups, from Grade 1 through 8. This will give students the opportunity to participate in grade level instruction to support and enrich academic achievement. Campers registered in AcadeMIA will also participate in the sports programme.

Each week, the French as a Second Language (FSL) Camp will focus on subject specific learning outcomes from the DELF levels. In each session, campers will build vocabulary, practice spelling, learn new expressions and strengthen grammatical notions supporting the weekly focus.

This week campers in Grade 1/2 will focus on: Bulletin météo 

  • Review vocabulary of the weather 
  • Present the temperatures 
  • Discover different francophone countries and cities
  • Learn how to present the forecast
  • Choose a country and invent the weather 
  • Create a “goofy” weather forecast 

Week 2: July 4 – July 8 FRANÇAIS GRADE 3/4 

This week campers in Grade 3/4 will focus on: Le marché 

  • Review vocabulary of jobs found at the market 
  • Review vocabulary of products you can buy 
  • Review numbers 
  • Politely ask for items to the vendors 
  • Ask for prices 

Week 3: July 11 – July 15 FRANÇAIS GRADE 5/6

This week campers in Grade 5/6 will focus on: Journal TV 

  • Learn about jobs in the journalistic field 
  • Choose topics they want to develop 
  • Write articles
  • Develop the News 
  • Shoot the video 

Week 4: July 18 – July 22 FRANÇAIS GRADE 7/8

This week campers in Grade 7/8 will focus on: Affiche publicitaire pays francophone 

  • Review geography of francophone countries in the world
  • Choose one country and discover about it (culture, gastronomy, history, geography, etc.) 
  • Find the highlights in the country 
  • Create a poster to publicize that country 

Week 5: July 25 – July 29 FRANÇAIS GRADE 1/2

This week campers in Grade 1/2 will focus on: Gastronomie francophone 

  • Review vocabulary for food 
  • Review numbers and units of measurement
  • Read recipes 
  • Discover food from a couple of francophone countries
  • Make a recipe 

Week 6: August 2 – August 5 (4 days) FRANÇAIS GRADE 3/4

This week campers in Grade 3/4 will focus on: Gastronomie francophone 

  • Review vocabulary for food 
  • Review numbers and units of measurement 
  • Read recipes 
  • Discover food from a couple of francophone countries 
  • Make a recipe 

Week 7: August 8 – August 12 FRANÇAIS GRADE 5/6

  • Discover food from different francophone countries
  • Make a recipe 
  • Translate their favorite Canadian recipe in French

 


ACADEMIA MATH SUMMER 2022 (GRADES 1-8 )

At AcadeMIA students will be using the Dimensions Singapore math curriculum. AcadeCap will be offering Mathematics each week to specific age groups, from Grade 1 through 8. This will give students the opportunity to participate in grade level instruction to support and enrich academic achievement. Campers registered in AcadeMIA will also participate in the sports programme. Activities will be delivered in a bilingual format.

  • Writing and evaluation expressions, and algebraic expressions
  • Fractions and Decimals (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Area and volume

This week campers in grade 3/4 will focus on: 

  • Numbers to 1,000,000 
  • Multiplication, Division
  • Fractions
